External Payments
While the majority of payments are processed through the Volume checkout experience, some may be received via manual bank transfers. Although this is not the primary method of payment, certain customers might repeat a previous transaction by accessing their banking app, reviewing their payment history, and reusing a past transfer. This results in a manual transfer to your virtual account.
Volume identifies and records these transactions as external payments. Since these payments are initiated outside of your system, they typically lack a standard reference or merchantPaymentId.
External payments can be viewed in the dashboard by applying the "External" filter. These transactions will be clearly marked with the "External" label for easy identification.
External Payment Notifications
You can also subscribe to external payment notifications to be alerted when such transactions occur, allowing you to take appropriate action. This can be configured in the Merchant Portal under the "Notifications" tab.
Notifications can be received via webhook, email, or both, depending on your preferences.
